The Client

Newton-Wellesley Hospital is a comprehensive medical center located right in Newton on Route 16 Washington Street.  They provide the services and expertise of a major medical facility with the convenience and personal attention of a community hospital. The team is committed to delivering high-quality, safe, efficient medical care to each of their patients.  They are a member of Mass General Brigham a network founded by Massachusetts General Hospital and Brigham and Women’s Hospital.

The Project

ICO Energy and Engineering performed design review and commissioning services for the Newton-Wellesley Hospital Central Steam Plant Renovation and Upgrade. The project included the replacement of all central plant equipment serving the hospital campus steam distribution system including redesign of equipment layout, process, BAS integration, and operation. Temporary modular boilers were used to provide steam to the campus during the renovation. Commissioning was an integral part of the temporary boiler integration, demolition, new equipment startup, and discontinuation of temporary services to the new central plant supplying steam to the campus. ICO performed commissioning through inspections, startup witnessing, functional performance testing, trend data operational analysis, and final seasonal testing.
